Presently overseeing a successful legal practice with offices in California and Utah, Steven Bangerter initially applied himself in an entirely different field, practicing radiation therapy with a focus on Intra-operative Radiation Oncology. After completing the required coursework for his licensure at the University of Utah in 1986, Mr. Bangerter delved into research involving irradiation and its effect on breast cancer treatment. Following the publication of his findings, he earned a coveted Blue Ribbon Award from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, a distinction bestowed on a select few in the profession whose clinical activities help spur important advancements in therapeutic modalities.
Steven Bangerter moved on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts from Arizona State University in 1989, demonstrating impressive academic aptitude and graduating magna cum laude. He subsequently enrolled at Western State College of Law at Argosy University, a leading scholastic institution fully accredited by the American Bar Association. Receiving his Juris Doctor in 1993, Mr. Bangerter accepted a position as an Associate Attorney with the Costa Mesa, California firm Cooksey, Toolen, Gage, Duffy & Woog, quickly proving himself to be one of the practice’s most capable lawyers. Named as a Partner and a member of the Board of Directors after only five years, Bangerter represented individual and corporate clients in cases of insurance defense and coverage, professional negligence, catastrophic closed-head and brain injuries, elder law, and fraudulent business practices. He also provided counsel to clients in matters of hospital and convalescent nursing care.
Mr. Bangerter had already solidified an excellent reputation as savvy and ethically grounded lawyer when he opened the original Oakland, California office of Bangerter Sheppard, PC in 2005 and by 2007, the practice had grown to include outposts in Los Angeles and St. George, Utah. With an AV Preeminent 5.0 Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, Mr. Bangerter holds admittance to the Utah State Bar, the State Bar of California, and the Los Angeles County, Orange County, and American Bar Associations.
