Dr. Gustavo Stringel: A Distinguished Career in Medicine

Currently residing in Larchmont, New York, Gustavo Stringel, M.D. undertook his doctoral studies at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), moving on to complete a Residency in General Surgery and a Residency in Pediatric Surgery in Toronto, Canada. Enrolled in the University of Toronto’s prestigious Gallie Course from 1973 to 1977, Dr. Stringel holds multiple licensures and certifications in his chosen area of specialization from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), the American Board of Surgery (ABS), the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), and the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE), among other medical associations.

Supplementing his extensive resume of accomplishments in the field of pediatric surgery with a Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst, Dr. Gustavo Stringel has been honored on numerous fronts for his work, selected as one of the Best Doctors in New York nine years in row by New York Magazine and Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. The publications additionally named him as one of the Top Minimally Invasive Surgeons in New York in 2002. For nearly 20 years, Dr. Stringel has applied himself as Surgeon in Chief and Director of Pediatric Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital (MFCH), part of the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York.

Aside from his many clinical contributions to the practice of pediatric surgical medicine, Dr. Gustavo Stringel has authored a vast array of scientific papers published in the Journal of Pediatric Surgery, the Journal of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the Canadian Journal of Surgery, and numerous other respected imprints. Gleaning content for his scholarly writing from the multiplicity of well-funded research projects he has helmed over the years, Dr. Stringel remains actively involved with the academic community through his present tenure as a Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at New York Medical College in Valhalla
