In 2009, cosmetic chemist Ron Robinson launched BeautyStat, an interactive online community where beauty consumers can learn about new products and get insight from experts. Unlike other sites that also focus on beauty tips and product reviews, BeautyStat is run by a team of industry insiders who understand the science behind cosmetics. Prior to founding BeautyStat, Robinson developed products for brands such as Avon, Estee Lauder, and Clinique.
Despite never having relied on outside funding, BeautyStat has quickly grown into a leading beauty-centric online community that attracts both consumers and brands. The site currently has more than 100,000 members, while its Facebook page has over 54,000. Robinson says that given his background, setting up a website and building an online community was quite a challenge; however, finding the right technology partners enabled him to bring his vision to life.
Aside from serving as CEO of BeautyStat, Robinson is also the resident beauty expert for Allure Magazine.
