Daniel Sullivan and His Thriving Herbal Drink Business

Daniel Sullivan got the idea to start TumericAlive after working at a turmeric farm in Maui in 2008. Armed with his blender, he began whipping up herbal drinks and selling them to health food stores and yoga studios towards the end of 2009. People loved Sullivan’s concoctions, and the healthy beverages are now available at a number of Whole Foods and Fairway Market locations as well. Today, TumericAlive sells 14,500 bottles of the raw drinks, which contain natural ingredients such as turmeric, ginger, cardamom, cayenne, and cinnamon.

According to the company, the bright orange beverages enhance immunity, metabolism, digestion, skin health, and circulation, among other health benefits. “People are becoming more sensitive to what makes them feel good; herbs are a huge part of that,” says Sullivan. The best part about his job? Making a product that he and his employees believe in – Sullivan says they all drink the vibrant blends daily.
