Nike’s Davide Grasso Keeps the Entrepreneurial Juices Flowing

One of only a handful of Nike, Inc., executives to have worked in all six of the company’s sports categories and all six of its global regions, Davide Grasso brings his entrepreneurial flair to his position as Vice President of Global Brand Marketing. Based at company headquarters near Portland, Oregon, he’s the head marketing guru worldwide, a gargantuan task. In this and a previous role, he introduced NBA star LeBron James, identified the brand with the Beijing Olympics, and developed global football initiatives. Davide Grasso also played key roles in the Write the Future, Alpha, Presto, and Find Your Greatness campaigns.

A native of Italy, the Nike executive joined the iconic company in 1993 as a Product Line Manager at Nike Europe Headquarters in Holland. In only one year, he became Director of Marketing for Nike Italy, where he grew the business 200 percent. His next promotion took him back to Holland, where he served as Marketing Director Europe, overseeing the marketing efforts of a $1 billion enterprise. Subsequently, Davide Grasso left Nike for two years to accept the position of General Manager of the Vestimenta/Hilton Division of apparel company Vestimenta SpA before returning to Nike as Brand Marketing Director of the USA Region. He also has served as Vice President of Brand and Category Management for the Asia Pacific Region and as Vice President of Global Football.

Prior to just doing it with Nike, Davide Grasso worked for Italian apparel companies Gruppo GFT SpA as Assistant to the Marketing Director and for Armando Testa SpA as an Account Executive, honing his advertising and marketing skills in the latter role. Married with three children, the Nike leader speaks Italian and English fluently and possesses a basic knowledge of French. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Economics at the University of Turin and completed his Master of Business Administration, with a scholarship from retail group la Rinascente, at the Graduate School of Bocconi University in Milan.
