Mac Anderson has loved quotations his entire life. During the 1980s, he owned the largest travel company in the Midwest and created a book of motivational quotes for a customer one year. The book was a hit, and Anderson got the idea to test it in airport and hotel gift shops and founded motivational products company Successories. A year and a half later, Successories had sold 800,000 copies of the “test” books, prompting Anderson to place some of the quotes on posters. The posters blew up, appearing in offices across America. At one point in the early 1990s, the company shipped 2,000 prints a day.
Anderson eventually sold Successories to a private investor and started a new company in 2005. Simple Truths delivers inspiration and motivation in the form of short books, prints, and videos. In the last five years, Simple Truths has sold over $50 million worth of books, and more than 100 people have watched the company’s motivational movies.
