Phil and Vanessa Carrington are the husband and wife team behind A Parent Company, the exclusive distributor of the Go Anywhere Booster Seat for the North American market. The Carringtons were visiting family in England when they came across the Go Anywhere Booster Seat in a baby goods retailer. They wanted to buy the product for their children but the store had run out of stock, so they decided to just get the seats when they returned home. After learning that the Go Anywhere Booster Seat wasn’t sold in the US, Vanessa called the supplier in the UK. Though she originally intended to only buy a couple of seats, she had agreed to distribute them in the States by the end of the phone conversation.
The Carringtons started A Parent Company because they believe the Go Anywhere Booster Seat should be available to parents in the US. The only ASTM compliant booster seat, the Go Anywhere Booster Seat folds up easily into a bag shape with a handle and shoulder strap, making it ideal for traveling. In addition, it is aesthetically pleasing, easy to clean, BPA and phthalate-free, and weighs only 1.5 lbs. Though it was designed for travel, the Carringtons use the Go Anywhere Booster Seat as a daily feeding seat because it is more compact and discreet than a highchair.
Prior to launching A Parent Company, negotiating, sales, and marketing were all uncharted territory for the Carringtons. Still, they embraced the challenge of becoming the sole distributor of the Go Anywhere Booster Seat in the US and Canada. Today, the product is sold online through A Parent Company, Sky Mall, Baby Age, Buy Buy Baby, New Mother New Baby, and Wayfair, among others, as well as in a number of brick-and-mortar retail stores across the United States and Canada.
