In September of 2006, Lisa Weber started a celebrity baby blog following the births of Suri Cruise and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt. That blog is Celebrity Baby Scoop, which is now the number one website of its kind. But as Weber recounts, Celebrity Baby Scoop’s rise to the top didn’t come overnight. The blog had zero readers in the beginning, but Weber persisted and continued to post daily even when no one was visiting.
“I could have hit ‘delete this blog’ but I didn’t,” she says. “I stuck with it and I recommend that if you have an idea or are starting something new, don’t get discouraged. Things take time to grow.”
Weber ran Celebrity Baby Scoop while working as a labor and delivery nurse. Her hard work eventually paid off, and what began as a hobby soon became a full-time job. Weber now oversees an editorial team of four out of New Jersey, where she lives with her husband and their three children. As a former RN, she has developed multitasking and prioritizing skills, which helps her be a productive mompreneur. Every day, Weber gets her kids ready for school, as well as moderates comments on the blog, answers questions from her staff, negotiates with photo agencies, and discusses ad campaigns with her advertising company.
Attracting 1.5 million unique visitors each month, Celebrity Baby Scoop has interviewed stars such as Ricki Lake, Heidi Klum, Molly Sims, Jewel, Tori Spelling, Alyson Hannigan, Queen Latifah, and more. It has also been featured in CNN, Us Weekly, TMZ, AOL, USA Today, Extra, Pregnancy & Newborn, The Washington Post, MumSense, and several newspapers nationwide.
Weber attributes the site’s growth and success to its topnotch content, saying, “We pride ourselves on every story that we publish, and our readers get addicted and keep coming back for more.”
