Nikki Kaufman graduated from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public Policy and International Affairs and has since made her presence known as one of Quirky.com’s founding team members. There, she performed various roles including those in PR, Sales, Content Management, and Logistics just to name a few. She then moved up to overseeing the company’s sourcing and operations where she spent time traveling between the company headquarters in New York, Hong Kong, and China. Kaufman also served as the company’s Head of People and Culture before she left to pursue her own startup.
In September 2013, Kaufman opened up her own company which went against the one-size-fits-all mentality of most companies that produced earphones. Kaufman believes that ears are just like fingerprints, each one is different. She came up with a way to produce personalized earphones with the help of a 3D Printer. Customers only need to scan their ears using an app which can be downloaded on most smartphones. Today, her company Normal has a flagship store in New York City where all the orders made online and in-store are printed.
