Karen Georgievich Shakhnazarov, PAR, is a Russian national treasure in many ways because of his prolific works as filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer. He is the current Director General of the Mosfilm Studios, a position he has held since 1998. He is the son of a politician, Georgy Shakhnazarov, and a housewife, Anna Grigorievna Shakhnazarova.
